Functional description
When the water passes through the filter medium, positive ions such as iron, manganese, calcium and magnesium are exchanged for sodium.
The filter medium also absorbs carbonic acid (CO2) and ammonium. Once saturation is achieved, the material is regenerated using saline (NaCl) and the filter returns to full functionality.
The filter material can also be mixed with other ion-exchange media regardless of ionic charge.
