Functional description
The water passes the filter bed upstream and causes the bed to fluidise (float).
The filter material consisting of half-burnt dolomite neutralises carbonic acid (CO2) in that the carbonic acid leaches the carbonate content of the lime, converting it into bicarbonate with an increase in alkalinity as a result.
Because the dolomite medium contains large amounts of magnesium oxide, the pH value will rapidly increase throughout the filter bed.
